Bye - bye !!
Good.
Bye - bye !!
We'll keep him comfy in his new windowless cell at the Supermax!
He comes with a no return or refund policy. We don't care if you have a receipt either.
No worries, he ain't coming back from where he's going.
Being he's a Canadian citizen immigrant or not, stand by for the "his Charter Rights" were violated and the, "when he's found guilty he should be brought back and put in a Canadian Prison to serve out his sentence" crowd to awaken to this obvious travesty of justice.
As for him not coming back from where he's going, if you're talking the death penalty, forget it. Canada won't turn over criminals, terrorist or marijuana advocates to the American judicial system if there's any chance of them being executed. Hell, we won't even turn over Americans to the Americans if there's any chance you guys will carry out justice.
I'm totally against the death penalty, but have problem sending people to countries that have it, as long as a fair trial can be assured (We should be monitoring that). Their country, their laws. Don't do the crime there if you don't want to be executed.
Anyway, good - he'll be the US's to deal with now. Since he's not black and poor, he'll probably get a fair trial.
Since there's no mention of the death penalty, I assume it wasn't on the table in the first place. Otherwise there would have been a long tug of war around that. Didn't we insist that Ng guy who was a serial killer not be executed before we would send him back? He spent forever here, as I recall.

I stand corrected. We can and have sent people to countries with the death penalty knowing that's the conviction they face.
Charles Ng is one who is currently spending his time on death row awaiting his final fate. It might just be Canadian Citizens who are issued a get out of death row free card if extradited to countries with the Death Penalty but I'm not sure?
Anybody?
As I recall the other guy was an ex-marine who committed suicide when the cops moved in. Believe he had a buried school bus as a bunker. So when people make jokes with Bart about the buried school bus, kinda makes me shiver.
Somebody like Ng certainly tests my commitment to not having the death penalty. but then if he had committed the crimes in Canada he could just join Bernardo et al and be no further threat to society.
