France withdraws troops from Afghanistan after four soldiers killed

There's a reason this doesn't happen to Canadians. That's what my Afghan friends told me anyways.

Actually something similiar did happen to a Canadian soldier when one of the locals hit him in the head with an axe during a sit-down pow-wow with some clan elders. There's nothing particularly different about the French effort over there that makes them more of a target than Canadians or Americans are. Any foreign army regardless of what nation they're from can expect attacks from within by infiltrators anytime we're mucking around in the Muslim part of the planet.

Thanos the attack you wrote of was done by an Afghan youth at a Shura and he was not a member of the Afghan Army or National Police, subtle difference.

That being said, the Afghan National Police are an extremely corrupt organization with a sympathy towards the Taliban and al Queda. The Afghan Army is slightly better, but still not 100% trustworthy.

The Afghans have been like this for millennia and, in fairness, they really do use Islam as a justification for things they'd do anyway. The best thing to do with the Afghans is to dissolve the country and let its neighbors like Pakistan, Iran, China, and etc. take what they want from it at whatever cost to the local population.

Probably happen anyway, in a proxy sort of way. What you're saying is that NATO troops in Astan is a useless effort. Funny, when I say it, I get accused of disrespecting the soldiers who have died over there.

I'm not saying that NATO troops being there is useless, but the rules of engagement being foisted upon them by politically correct f*cktards in Brussels and Washington by effete espresso-sipping paper pushers is utterly hamstringing the effectiveness of the troops.

If you're not going to kill the enemy then send , not soldiers, is what I am saying.

Oh, and just to be clear, if it lives and breathes within the borders of Afghanistan then in all likelyhood, it is the enemy.

So kill them all, is what you're saying. And you're still saying NATO being in Astan is useless, just that it's because their commanders won't go all in. Still makes the mission useless, just like Vietnam. And destroying a village in order to save it doesn't seem anymore useful now than it did then.

That or build a wall around it and rename it 'Arkham'. In any case, in 4000 years no one has been able to sort those people out so, yeah, I'd be inclined to look for a more lasting, or , solution to the problem there.



I agree. Unless we're all in there's no point in being there because even if we are not willing to kill them all, they're willing to kill all of everyone else and they've made that abundantly clear right up to Karzai.

What you're saying is that mission is useless. Nobody is crazy enough to want to follow your final solution. And what would it accomplish anyway? You going to station US/Nato troops there forever to keep out the Taliban that would infiltrate from Pstan? Or the Iranians and Chinese? Or just build a huge fleet of predators to blow up anything that moves on the ground. Y'all don't have the money for that, even if you had a prez crazy enough to go for it.

What you're saying is that NATO involvement in Astan is futile. You don't want to say it, because you want to support the troops. I can't for the life of me figure out how getting more troops killed, for what anybody can see will ultimately be futile is supporting the troops.

Maybe some good will come out of negotiating with the Taliban, but I doubt it. And the more videos of soldiers pissing on their corpses, or being charged with abusing their kids (British) and what have you, the more they will hate us. The Taliban never were out to jihad the west, they just wanted to rule their own little roost. They did harbor Al Qaeda, but after it was defeated we should have left.

Exactly. And I'm not proposing to kill all of them, not at all. But I am saying that anything short of killing all of those people is going to prove to be futile because those people have withstood four thousand years of empires, invaders, conquerors, and etc. and in all of those successive invasions and all those people have not compromised one iota.

So then we wasted a lot of lives trying to prove you wrong. And the people who wanted to cut and run were right, and in the end Canada cut and run anyway.

I know these words may come back to haunt me, but Afghani tribes only kill foreigners that come to their lands...they don't go looking to start fights with other nations. They are content to stay in their own lands and kill each other. Why do? we need to wipe them out? wqe used to admire them for killing Soviets the same way.
