Let's see where the Libs/Cons/NDP stand on this issue. This could be the long neglected youth vote waiting to be snatched up.

Does anyone else find it telling that many patients are finding it tough to find a Doctor that will prescribe medicinal marijuana? Far to many people are using this to "legitimize" their illicit drug use. If there is actual benefits for those that need it then why not issue it in pill form. With a sympathetic Doctor and a bullshit story I find it unfathomable that my son could have access to cannabis when a legal substance like cigarettes is not. Allow me to qualify that I wish my son not to smoke either, though kids will be kids.

Pot should have been legalized by in 2003 when Paul Martin was in charge. This ruling is a good thing, 1 step closer. Hopefully, Harper won't win his majority and as to not scuttle this major ruling.

On paper the Conservatives are all about individual freedoms, but in reality they are more interested in slashing taxes for the richest and most powerful while erecting more rules and barriers for the average joe.

Since when? That's exactly what conservatism is NOT.

Your son doesn't need, not likely would get a prescription from a doctor. Kids find pot way easier to access than booze because of the well developed underground sales network because illegality drives it underground. So if your son is old enough and interested in doing pot, and it's available in your community, he's already tried it. Kids will be kids and all.

I don't understand this forum. When I come out with stuff like this I'm told I'm naive or just jealous because I must have a minumum wage job. I'm told that taxing the rich means they'll just take their money elsewhere and it's impossible. Plus they're already too abused by our taxation system and everyone should just pay a flat tax. Not a peep about that here. What gives?

It is available in pill form... a good friend of mine takes it in pill form. She was very reluctant to try it when her doctor first suggested it though and didn't really believe it would help. She has a medical condition and had alot of trouble falling asleep through her chronic pain and sleeping pills interfered with other meds and made her sick. She also has teenage sons and in her eyes taking a "pot" pill was like endorsing marijuana as "ok". Due to her asthma the idea of smoking pot was not an option. However, she tried the pot pill, taking one slightly before bedtime and it relaxes her enough that she can now fall asleep at night. It has definitely been hugely beneficial to her.

Wonder if there's already a black market in those pills. There was a time when dropping some THC pills would have been hugely attractive to me. You also don't need a pill - people make pot butter or use it in food in various ways. In case it's not just the THC that does the magic.

Sad commentary on the state of Canadian young people then if getting stoned is the only major issue on their minds.

This won't do anything politically. If they didn't care before they won't now. The ruling is also just against medical pot, not legalizing pot in general. There already is a well organized pro pot movement, but it just doesn't get enough traction. Most people are so poorly informed about the issue, as we can read in arguments here. The arguments either seem to be "I don't want my kids doing it, and I think pot laws prevent that." Or, "legalization won't be a perfect solution, so there's not point in even trying."

Actually, if the gov't doesn't doesn't improve the licensing system or at least appeal the decision in 90 days, the current ruling would effectively allow people to grow and smoke it for any reason.

Pot should be Mandatory! Instead handing out Diplomas at Graduation, hand out giant Doobies. You're gonna roll up a paper anyway, might as well be used for more than something to hang on the wall.
