Asked about Mr. Ban's comments today, Mr. Harper dodged the question, suggesting that since the UN leader likes U.S. President Barack Obama's greenhouse gas-cutting plan, by extension he must actually be happy with Canada's approach too.

I sure hope we can put a stop payment on that cheque before Copenhagen.

Total waste of taxpayers money, trying to usurp mother nature is a non-starter.

Waste of a taxpayers money. There should be an uproar over this. It's as bad as buying carbon credits!

Are these Third world countries going to buy windmills or weapons with their new found cash?

Hopefully, we'll be smart enough to give them wind turbines or solar panels instead of cash.

    Yeah we'd hope so.

That should be the Conservative Party slogan.

Cross your fingers. It's all up to the brave soldiers of the American tea party movement, once the politicians have to return to their constituencies, after Obama returns from his sellout attempt at Copenhagen. The longer they can drag it out, and the closer they get to the American 2010 mid-term elections, the better for Canadian bank accounts.

Yeah, whatever you do, don't spend the 10 billion to work on developing alternative energy sources here, let's send it to some 3rd world shitholes so THEY can usurp our markets completely.

    Who's usurping what now?

Canada also agreed along with other wealthy industrialized nations to contribute to a $10-billion (U.S.) fund that will help developing countries cope with the adverse impacts of climate instability, including flooding in low-lying areas.

This money is for disaster relief and prevention.
