Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Tuesday the money will go towards funding more than a dozen GO Transit projects, including upgrades to the Ontario-wide commuter system.
This is part of a nation wide economic plan it says, with more projects coming in the next few weeks. Toronto is the biggest city in Canada, still the economic hub of Canada, and therefore deserve this funding. Should T.O. just get no money? I smell envy.

Let me know when they announce 140 million for Calgary Transit
How about investing that money in the capital, where we desperately need a form of rapid transit that doesn't just include busses. Toronto has more than enough modern transit infrastructure, while we have a system that's fifty years old and outliving its usefulness.
The cost-to-benefit investments in public transist is the highest immaginable, when it comes to infrastructures. Ontarians pay taxes, why shouldn't they get investments? In a age where pollution is killing our planet (Alberta, anyone?) helping people ditch the car in favor of public transports is wise and well-spent money.

Modern transit system? Not quite. Toronto has 50 year old highways that need expanding, a subway system that is 50 years and is too slow and old and some of the stations look like third world, and a bus system that doesnt have any dedicated lanes. The GO is slow and unreliable at best. The whole system needs a complete overhaul and that requires money.
