Some reserve soldiers fighting in Afghanistan have had their pay cut off because their contracts with the army expired while they were serving overseas.
Maybe it is different in the reserves, but contract extension is one of the few things in the military that is "push" rather then "pull". Meaning the military books your appointment and makes sure you sign every dotted line required to go over without administrative hassels.
Almost sounds like a case of one disgruntled Kaffite or their family member going to the presses because they feel the army was dragging their asses. I agree, my Roto the reservists checked twice, and were order multiple times to ensure that their contract didn't expire while we were overseas. It was a non-issue and no problems were encountered.
Fucking idiots.
