Wow, and just last week Harper gave Ford a whole whack of money for a different plant. What will be the net result? Will these people get to move over to the Essex plant? Or will the government just be out a bunch of money with no net gain in employment?

I guess it proves that no matter how much money you throw at somethng, if it isnt profitable there is nothing you can do, like the economic slowdown, because it has been generated in the US there is nothing we can do to stop it from affecting Canada as our economies are intertwined. The funny thing is that even if the LPC were the Goov't the situation would still be the same, and that proves that the economy operates independantly fro the government as it should!!
"ziggy" said Unreal that the workers are class actioning Ford because they lost their jobs.
Welcome to the real world.
Please re-read the article and get up to speed on the initial event that sparked the lawsuit before posting rolling eyes.
I did,you think anyone's "entitled" to a job these days?
Workers who were hired and quit other jobs earlier this year have filed a claim in court against Ford for the move.
They are seeking class-action status.
Sorry dude but the real world just doesnt work that way, dont worry, they can come to Alberta and become rig-pigs.
I've walked away from lots of jobs to go to other ones that didnt work out and I never tried sueing the outfit. I think it is bullshit that 500 people were hired, given a start date, then told hours before that start date not to show up...Ford should settle now and pay them all a year's wages in my opinion.

Back in the old days their union brothers and sisters would have taken a cut to keep the other members working, how times have changed.
Now it's me me me.

Anyone know what these guys were making an hour?
I know guys that are permanent nights there are making 80K a year with full time day jobs.
Needless to say they do very little during the nights because they have a real job during the day.
now maybe they can focus on one job

Thats also why people sign contracts, union or not.
Best not send those lads to Alberta, they wouldnt last one day.
Well if it's bullshit then file a grievance, thats what your union is supposed to do,look after you if you cant do it yourself.

Those people didn't even get one paycheck let alone pay dues and get a union card.
Anyways, Alberta could use a few more people that base their decisions on greed rather than good sense.
Anyone with good sense would not quit a job to go work at at an auto assembly plant at this time with the economy the way it is.
