The Canadian Minister of Organized Crime Reduction and Border Security, Bill Blair says that measures must be taken to address gun violence in Canada but that no ban or other regulation will be voted before the coming federal elections.
A group of sheep notice a wolf attacking one of their flock. The sheep, upon seeing the carnage, decide that teeth are dangerous weapons. The sheep then decide to remove their own teeth for their own safety.

Except that wolves naturally grow their own teeth, they dont get them by stealing or illicitly buying them from sheep,
Also unlike your shitty analogy, guns are not natural elements of our bodies like teeth that were chosen to get rid of, in an unnatural way, theyre foreign objects that weve chosen to introduce to our society
Also in the real world the killers are not some higher order species like a wolf but are actually just another sheep who lost his shit.
So lets see how this could play out. Criminal owns a gun, criminal see's this coming and buys a gun that's not registered. New system is put into place. People who have guns and have them registered must now turn guns in. Criminal knows that any place he or she wants to rob has an almost 0% chance of defending themselves from me, the criminal, with a gun. All criminal has to do is get away before cops show up.

Theres no gun ban coming and no way to legally purchase an unregistered handgun. It used to be that you couldnt legally purchase any unregistered firearm but the last conservative government torched the long gun registry so now long gun owners cannot be held accountable when one of their guns is used in a crime.
They couldn't before if they reported their gun stolen.
Remember: Laws and registries and shit only govern the law-abiding. Do you think for a moment that a 90's gang-banger thought at all about registering his AK?
Why should a victim of theft and robbery be "held accountable" for anything at all if what was stolen from them is used for nefarious activities by a criminal? Why are liberals so obsessed with imposing harsh collective guilt on just for owning something that liberals just don't like? Psycho liberal extremists demonize gun owners just as much as psycho right-wing extremists do homosexuals.

The same guy isnt likely to report his guns stolen over and over again. Now hes free to keep making straw purchases over and over again with nobody the wiser

Might as well make murder legal the huh? Since the criminals dont obey the laws anyway?
The 90s gang-banger bought his gun from somebody, who bought it from somebody else who bought it from somebody else. Somewhere along that food chain from the AK factory there was a legal AK and a legal gun owner. Then someone a legal gun owner decided to pass that gun to a criminal. Without a registry that person cant be held accountable
I feel that you don't understand that most guns are smuggled into Canada. Further, an AK is a Prohibited weapon, they are illegal in Canada to begin with.
Different animal, a registry is different than a law. Or he had it smuggled into to Canada. And generally when you buy black market, you don't get a receipt.
AK's generally are not made in Canada, they are made in countries where your vaunted registry would be useless.

I know where guns come from.
You claim crime guns are smuggled into Canada from a place with gun lax gun laws. Is that supposed to be your argument in favour of lax gun laws?
Its actually not been proven where the majority of crime guns come from but regardless of what proportion of crime guns are smuggled vs being lost by so-called responsible gun owners in Canada doesnt matter. Lax gun control means more guns in the hands of criminals.
Im also aware that the AK is a prohibited weapon. Youre the one who brought up the AK so dont try to lecture me for your example. The point still stands: someone legally bought the AK then sold it to a criminal and got away with it because if lax gun laws.
Yeesh!
