https://phys.org/news/2017-05-canada-bl ... imate.html

"Canada's auditor general blasted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government Tuesday for effectively blocking an audit of efforts to eliminate fossil fuel subsidies in the fight against climate change.

Canada committed at a G20 summit in 2009 "to phase out and rationalize over the medium term inefficient fossil fuel subsidies," setting a target date of 2025 last year with continental free trade partners Mexico and the United States, Auditor General Michael Ferguson noted in his report.

But Ferguson said the finance ministry, which was tasked with identifying subsidies, refused to hand over key documents for analysis, citing cabinet confidentiality.
Ferguson said he therefore was unable to determine whether the Trudeau administration was acting on its commitments, despite having championed the fight against climate change on the global stage."

ROTFL

So, his promise on this subject was just another in a long line of lies. Although, the best part of the whole affair is that his mistruths and dodges are actually alienating more people than Stephan Harper's singing which, I would have never thought possible.

No, it's not. But if we sat down to make a list of things a Canadian government (controlled by either party) loudly committed itself to then quietly reneged on over the last thirty-odd we'd be working on it until midnight and still not be halfway done. It's a Canadian tradition, to proclaim our goodness at the top of our lungs with way too much "we're gonna do this and we're gonna do that!" but then weasel away from our own words as soon as the photo-ops are no longer needed. Not sure why we and our politicians are this way but it is what it is.

Exactly!

We're a stupid bunch of voters. We take the guy/gal that spins the best lines and makes some cool promises and then act outraged when it doesn't happen.

The only thing that changes is the person behind the message and the colour of the party logo.

Yeah that's always entertaining.

Smugly  Sure came across as a pompous ass in that though the digs from the opposition made it worth watching

Not sure why anyone would be surprised politics in general is just a big popularity contest that has gotten worse with all the stuff on social media. Why fact check when you can run with some stupid social media sound bit. As Ontario has proven no one seems to mind scandal corruption and lies. I am going to spend the time between now and any election deciding if it even worth the effort to vote. I may go for an independent or spoil my ballot.

This is why the HOC is a joke.

The CPC sits on the other side, makes these videos, after doing the same damn thing while Harper was in that seat.

It's so damn hypocritical!

Yeah but watching other countries politics is there a better system. Can we pick and choose bits we like and mess them together to make something better or will it end up worse.

Or just take the existing format and make people accountable and actually answer questions.

Having "Question Period" and not answering any questions seems a little foolish.
