stemmer stemmer: Mtbr - I know we disagree on this topic but man, you've got class... You know how to debate and not result to personal attacks. For that I salute you.... A few here could learn from you, including myself... ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

Mustang1 - you told Herbie you bought an Honda and one of the reasons was they depreciate little and have a higher resale value... Sounds like investing to me....

stemmer stemmer: So it's ok for Mustang1 to claim Japanese cars hold their value more then domestics... Model for model and within the same category, he's absolutely right. In your mind where you compare a Vette to a Civic, you don't seem to be able to understand the fact that the Vette cost more to begin with. Try working with the percentage of the purchase price that goes down the toilet every year it's on the road and then get back to me on that.

Mustang1 Mustang1: stemmer stemmer: Nothing...
But it corrects Mustang1's belief that people purchase Honda's for an investment...
Now which will retain it's value more? A 2009 Toyota Camry or a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T?
How about a new 2009 Corvette? What Japanese car will hold it's value as well as a Vette or 2009 Shelby Mustang....
Now please inform me...? It is you two fools who made this ludicrous statement and I am merely pointing out how silly this statement is.... Yes some Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans depreciate little but to make the wild statement that domestics depreciate more is not true....
No deal with it.... Actually, a Camry will hold its value better than a Fusion. Deal with it. A Civic will hold its value better than a Cobalt. Deal with it. And the cars that are truly worth an investment are Ferrari, Porsche, Bentley and Bugatti. None of which you can afford and still doesn't alter the fact that Domestics do not do well against Toyota and Honda in terms of depreciation. Deal with it. And a new Dodge Challenger R/T, Corvette, Viper or Shelby, will hold it's value better then an equivalent Toyota or Nissan or Mazda or Honda.... So what's your point?

Which Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, or Honda?
Focus!
Let me try and educate you on how this works.
Let’s use the Dodge as an example and compare it to a Lexus of comparable value. Which do you think is valued higher in a year or two?

$1: Poquas - Then of course there’s your nonsensical return to comparing a Vette or Shelby to a “generic Japanese car”. You’ve already expressed your racist leaning in the past.
Trevor has warned about calling people racists and other things. I have many a friend who is a minority. But in your small myopic world it's ok to say North Americans build crap but not for anyone else to say vice versa. Nice logic... And sounds very much like racism to me.... I am pro-North American. But I guess loyalty to country and friends is not important to you.... If you persist with calling me a racist I will ask for action from Trevor and if that fails, I'll be contacting my lawyer. That's slander. It's against the law....And something I will not tolerate from anyone, anywhere.... So PLEASE push my button or apologize NOW. Here. In this thread...

It’s probably best that you call your lawyer and notify Trevor.
You are a racist. Your repeated term "ricers" is discriminatory.
Now that you've had your hissy fit, are you going to respond to the questions in this topic or make more asinine idle threats?

I'll stand by it, thanks. Besides, he’s made his position pretty clear across a large number of posts on this forum. He’s xenophobic to the extreme of irrational paranoia whenever offshore products or workers are brought into various topics. He’ll quote references from the most radical right wing sources I’ve seen here. Stemmer claims it’s slander. I think it’s fact. Now back to the topic (I hope). Stemmer. What a collector "might" pay for a particular vehicle, and your favourite qualifier of "some" hardly makes your case. You might be willing to pay more than something is worth, but the rest of the population is not. A Dodge Challenger RT or SRT, and A model of Lexus of similar value is a good case in point. Driven for the same number of miles over the same number of years, there will be no comparison. Even with the "demand" you claim exists, the Dodge will drop more than 10% of its purchase value the minute it's driven off the lot. Of course if you pay what you think it's worth, we undoubtedly talking 20% or more. If you doubt me, like I said earlier, call any leasing company you like and ask them what the residual values will be after each year of ownership. Be sure to use comparable purchase numbers. Then you'll be able to say the leasing numbers are all wrong too!

The guys were watching Barrett-Jackson highlights New Year's Eve on SPEED. Seeing that 34 Chrysler Airflow go for less than the shit that used to crowd my school parking lot... Like seeing Dogs Playing Poker Velvet Artgo for more than a Picasso...

ONE of the reasons, not the ONLY reason and it certainly wasn't an extreme like an auction. You're wrong. You ascribed a position to me that wasn't factual. You lied. Deal with it. Oh...and my car will still be worth more than a contemporary domestic equivalent. Deal with it.

This is where you need to take a break. It's evident that you cannot dissociate yourself emotionally from an Internet forum debate and it's become clear that your only course of action is constant legal threats (by the way, you're looking for "LIBEL" not "slander" and he's still not guilty anyway), censoring calls, other threats and hypocrisy. If you don't like the way you're being treated then walk away. No one is coercing you into posting, insulting, threatening and posting half-truths - you do this of your own volition. If you don't like the tone, you can ignore, but you post identical tactics and you insult with aplomb, yet chastise others when they commit similar acts. It smacks of hypocrisy and coupled with the constant barrage of threats and emotional outbursts and i'd wager you need to develop a thicker skin or take to less taxing thread. Either way, you owe the whole thread an apology for this kind of reactionary behavior.

So the terms jap scrap, ricer, rice burner, rice rocket are now racist?
That would make most Canadians who have referred to them when they first appeared as racists.
Watch some old footage from the world wars and see what the media and all of north Americe used to call the Japanese and the Germans. Some nice slang there, people tend to throw out the racist card way too much these days.
