BeaverFever BeaverFever:
No that kind of language is never acceptable in public discourse.

You don't get to call a female official a sexually offensive because term just someone else (not her) was behaving inappropriately.

And you know people get heckled in the house right? Maybe the MPPs involved should have used better judgment given the topic (political correctness, imagine that!). But that's on them, it doesn't give anyone the right to use sexist attacks, especially against someone who wasn't even involved in the incident.

Heckling doesn't always happen in the House. Far from it.

Often, MPP's make passionate pleas for a variety of topics without heckling. Respect.

Recently, Wynne sat there while her MPP's heckled someone talking about a family with Autism.

MPP's from all parties needs to clean up their act. Spare us your outrage.

You're the one making excuses. Misogyny is not excusable. It's fucking disgusting.

Even more frustrating is she wasn't even involved in the heckling incident in question...it's just guilt by association. "She just sat there"? Seriously? What would you expect her to do, throw a shoe at them? What has any party leader done in that situation? This kind of disrespect happens in the parliamentary system from time to time unfortunately. Never has a PM or Premier ever done anything except "just sit there" when it's happening.

The backbenchers heckling during a speech on autism doesn't justify calling anyone a bitch, least of all someone who wasn't involved.

Hypocrisy.

If it's disgusting, why do you use misogonist terms?

You've repeatedly used the word "broad" to describe a woman. A term used to describe a whore or a mistress.

If it's fucking disgusting, perhaps you need to alter the language you use as well.

Spare me.

That isn't the same as calling a specific person a bitch...a person you don't even know personally...just because you don't agree with their ideas.

""Broad" isn't a universally offensive term. The male version of "broad" is dude. What's the male version of "bitch"?

Also, there's an influential businesswomen's group called "85 Broads" I guess ""85 Bitches" must've been taken,eh?

Nice try.

Place pie on a baking sheet (I like to place foil on the baking sheet first to make clean-up easier if fruit juices do escape).

Bake at 450° F for 12 minutes, then reduce heat to 350° F and continue to bake for 50 - 60 minutes, or until the filling juices bubble up through the vents.

What happened to being a sudden feminist?

I've seen many women in business take great offence to the term "broad" being used against them. Huge blow ups.

For you to say it's not offensive only because you don't think it's offensive holds about as much weight as this guy saying the same thing in his defence.

If you want to be selectively outraged and feminist, you should brush up on terms women find offensive.

Some people think "broad" is a crude term. Fine, I'll take it under advisement.

"Bitch" is a sexist insult by anyones standards and it's directed at a specific individual you don't even know and who's done nothing to you personally.

Don't equivocate. There's a clear difference.

The term "bitch" has changed in its meaning just as much as "broad" has.

Bitch is often used to describe pushy and rude women and isn't meant to be sexist at all. Like jerk or asshole would be for a man.

There's a difference. Yes. But the terms you've used are seen as just as mysogonist as other terms. So when you take a hard stance, you need to ensure your past and future comments share that POV.

BTW, that group 85 Broads changed their name to something a little more respectable less than a year into business.

I'm aware that "broad" and "chick" are offensive to some and you probably wouldn't use them in the workplace but people use them in social settings all the time and Ive never seen anyone take offence. "Broad" isn't meant to be derogatory, even if some take it that way. Bitch is though. I can't think of a context where I would say would refer to, say, Rhona Ambrose a "broad": "Rhona Ambrose is a total broad!" Doesn't work, right?
