Its not about stopping it...that ended as soon as we were awarded the Debacle. For me it is the Mandatory Free Speech Zones and Forcing People into shelters, regardless of the weather, this is all against my and everyones rights as CANADIANS. I have a problem with all of that and will express my dislike of it before, during and after the games.
Oh I have already been warned...supposedly my banner at my house is not welcome. I say bring it bitches....Canada is a Free Speech Zone.

TattoodGirl TattoodGirl: My Country is my FREE Speech Zone...it is my Constitutional Right as Yours. My Father, My Uncles, My Cousins, and My Foster Sons, and now my Son have and still do fight for this right in the world. I will not Be silenced in my Country. The Media should be for the Country of Canada not for Corporate Sponsors...what is the use of Media if it isnt unbiased?
You dont want to hear it turn your TV and ears off or leave Canada....That is the beautiful thing about this country....we have that right, many dont and it starts with media censorship. Well it sucks to be the people who protest when the media finds their protests a hell of a lot more boring then a couple old dudes from Coca-Cola and RBC. Maybe they should re-evaluate their way of presenting their message to become more recognized. Or better yet, re-evaluate the message. Maybe people just don't care about whatever the protesters happen to be griping about, which is why the media ignores them. Remember the media goes for the story that will catch the most eyes, it only makes sense as far as making money goes. So if the media isn't interested, maybe it's showing the protesters and as people like you who support them that the majority of the province and country don't care about your gripes and just want to enjoy the Olympic experience. I personally find it quite saddening that the protesters seek to interfere with the relay of the athletes, young people, significant figures, etc. that have the privilege of doing the torch relay. Kinda tarnishes the message when 500 protesters seek to fuck with the very thing they claim to be martyrs for. Maybe that's a part of the media ignorance as well.

ridenrain ridenrain: I don't care about it either but the time to stop it has passed. The NDP and the Libs pushed for this and BC and the feds are going to be paying for it, probably for a long time. Disrupting and forcing the security teams to work extra is just going to make it drag on longer and cost more money. We've got a lot of anarchists and professional trouble makers in this province and screwing around with this is their little way to "stick it to the man" but it just makes the whole thing worst. I'm going to ignore the whole freak'n circus and refuse to pay attention untill it goes away. Wow- two threads where we agree. I'm not a fan of the olympics but bitching about is done. It's too late. I watched the relay today with my son who was thrilled by the whole thing. As part of the security for the olympics, I'm hoping the only people I have to deal with is the very unlikely terrorist threat and not the homegrown idiots who want to disrupt the games in support of a massive pout fest.

Actually that is really sad...all of what you said. Because a Media reporter reporter how detrimental a peacefull protest was to getting attention...he said Violence would get it. So what would you suggest...peaceful with local Media attention or Violent with World Attention?

Peaceful with local attention of course. Means that from out here in Ontario the only news I see is positive news about the Olympic experience going on back in my home province. Like I said, I don't give two fucks about the protesters, so I don't wanna hear about them. If they are muting themselves by being peaceful, then not only all the better for me not having to hear about em, but all the better for the overworked security personnel who have to keep a watchful eye on them in case they do turn violent.

I will be protesting, but it is because they have instilled 'Free Speech Zones' I have issue with ...Its not a pout fest for me, its personal. If We get face to face and toe to toe...Well it will be a good fight

Good or Bad?

I was wondering if Dr. Pepper was back in town. TattoodGirl: Big dilema with getting that protest media coverage While violence does get a camera, it turns a protest group into criminals or terrorists. A lot of folks tried some very creative things to get news and it seems that the media often needs to be in or sympathetic for that to work.

Good or Bad? Absolutely! But the country doesn't deserve to be fed mindless drivel, the country deserves to hear and see news it will actually care about. In this case the protests are the mindless drivel the country doesn't want to hear about. If the country did want to hear about the protests, someone, somewhere, would be broadcasting news focused on it. But instead every news agency in the country is focusing on the relay, and all the positives about it, cause everything about the relay emphasizes Canadian values, and as such is something the country wants to hear about. The protests are merely an insignificant inconvenience that NO ONE gives a rats ass about.
