It blows my mind how coddled youth are, what are they going to do once they leave college with its "safe zones" and other bullshit behind? It's fitting though for a bully. She basically used her position on the student council to threaten and intimidate another student into complying with her views because she couldn't tolerate him having a different opinion than her. The story got popularized via the media and she ended up encountering a vast and angry group of other bullies that are far better at the game than she is. She got every bit of what she deserved. If it's scaring the hell out of her then good. Maybe she'll think twice before she throws her weight around to make the other students fall into line.
